This story is inspired by a real-life orca who travels each year along the Southern California coast. Known as “Frosty” by whale watchers and surfers, this rare white orca captured my imagination. I couldn’t stop thinking about him — and I knew children should know his story too. After a year of reflection, I finally sat down to share Frosty’s journey with the world.
